Topic: 46 Ford Convertible Windshield Wipers

I recently ordered replacement windshield wiper arms and blades for my '46 convertible. My aim was to match the original arms and blades, but to modernize. This probably was not a good idea as the parts received from a well-know supplier are of low quality. Two questions: (1) where do I go to find quality wiper parts, and (2) how do I remove the existing wiper arms to do this job? The existing, original style arms are stuck to the shaft.

We buy the Vintique wiper arms. The right and let arms are different, so must be ordered correctly.. C&G sells them for $17.00 each. (800) 266-0470.

McGee. The wiper arms go over a splined cap that is attached to the wiper shaft with a small cotter pin. Take a look at the inside of the piece that goes over the splined cap, and you will see a springy blade on the hinge side of the arm. That is what holds the arm on the wiper shaft. There may be some tool to assist in removing the old arm, but I use the blade of a screwdriver (prying over my finger) under the back of the housing , and grip the arm close to the hinge an pry/lift at the same time. You need to overcome the retaining springy thing to get the arm off. Hope this helps.

Today, I returned to this small project. I used a very small screw driver to remove the old wiper arms, and replaced wiper arms and blades with the Vintique brand. Thanks for your advice, the removal method worked perfectly.
