What weight gear oil are people using for trans and steering box? My book says 160 weight but it seems hard to find. Thanks in advance for any help.

I use Stalube Gear Oil, SAE 140, API/GL-4, Stalube Part No. SL 24238.

I use Penrite 1200w Semi-Fluid Lube in my ‘34s Steering Box. Great stuff, specifically designed for steering box use, and the heavy weight helps prevent leaks as well. Heres a link to where you can get it:

Thanks to both. I'm going to try the Penrite LUB 009 for the steering box. I found some 140 wt. gear oil at O'Reilly Auto Parts for the transmission.
I appreciate your help.

Just make sure that 140wt from O'Reillys is GL-4 and safe for use with yellow metals as there are some yellow metal components in the original '34 transmission. GL-5 oil could damage them...
