Topic: 1950 volt meter

I am replacing all under dash wiring, and I have my dashboard laying on a table. When removing all the instrument cluster wiring I noticed the volt meter is not directly wired, but has a clamp like an amprobe holding a heavy wire to the back of the meter. I squeezed the clamp to remove the clamp and wire, and when the clamp came loose the needle of the volt meter fell to the bottom of the bezel.
I found the clamp not only holds the wire in place, it is also the item that secures the voltage needle.

Oh no, I'm afraid that you may have to buy another amp meter. The wire
is threaded threw that loop. You are lucky if you can fix it. And make
sure you pay attention which way the wire goes through it - threaded the
wrong way the needle will read in the wrong direction or take a picture
of it. Proper way is disconnect the wire it usually goes to a breaker board,
don't worry the wire terminal will fit through this loop. Some call it an
induction meter kind of like a compass. These usually are on Ebay...sam

Thanks for the information, GK. I can't see anything broken, but I believe I have found a gauge from Shooter Brown. I can examine it and see if mine can be assembled again.
