Topic: battery?

Where may I get a very good 6-volt battery? It's not working from Les Schwab!
'36 Ford fordor, with '37 motor flathead; 350 miles on complete overhaul. All new wiring original repo through out, and grounds to frame and cowl body. Drive for a few miles, park it and won't start and battery goes down immediately. When in my garage on a maintenance charger and it is a very good one. So battery is the one I think I need.

We have replaced several of our batteries and have great luck with East Penn batteries. Should be able to find them at an Autozone or the likes of.

Do they fit in the '36 ford under driver side?

The correct battery to fit under the floor of your '36 is a Group 2LF. To the best of my knowledge, this size battery is no longer manufactured....

I hope that is wrong. But I think you are probably right. I am going to try Interstate Battery here in Redding, CA. They think they have one for $150 installed. Thanks for your response.

Let us know if Interstate provides you with a battery that fits your application. Let us known the model and part number of their battery....

Charge your battery, then take it to your local auto parts store, they will check it for you, to make sure it is a battery problem and not a charging or other problem.

I have group 1 6 volt batteries in both a model A and a 42 Ford. They are available from NAPA here in CT as well as other parts stores. They fit in the original battery trays although the outside dimensions are probably slightly smaller than the original batteries. They last for several years the way I use them.

Have your battery checked, you may have a drain when the engine is not running. A generator cutout can fail and cause a similar problem.
