  Hello Friends,
I found a repair shop that specializes in antique car radio repair and I'm taking them the Philco that I pulled out of my Phaeton. First, I need to figure out how to detach the speaker/grille. Does anyone recognize the speaker/grille in the attached photo? Any advice you might give?

TYhanks!

Have you looked for mounting studs and mounting nuts on the engine side of the firewall?....

That doesent look like any 36 speaker ive seen ?? Open cars had them in the radio box itself. Closed cars had it up under the head linernear the center of W/S. (had 36 for 32 yrs) ken ct.

I agree with Ken that is not an original '36 ford radio speaker. The open cars in '36 had the speaker as part of the radio box that contained the tubes and electronics. The radio box was mounted just above the steering column and had cables that led to the control head in the dash. I also notice that you have a a later model ('42-48 Ford) heater in the '36.

Two types of radios are found in '36 open cars. One is a '35 which ended up in many '36s and the other one is a '36 only.

As for your current radio, it isn't any radio I have seen in a Ford.
