Could someone help me regarding a leaky heater core on a 49 ford, I need to remove the core to take it to a local radiator repair shop that can repair it.I have a 36 ford and do all my own work, but I 'm trying to help a gentlemen I met at a cruise night recently and perhaps get him to join the V8 club. Thank's Frank

Depending where you live -- why do you need to repair the heater core? I had the same problem with a bad heater core. And while not wanting or needing a heater (live in the cold climate, so vehicle is stored during the winter), i ordered a new heater hose kit and then went to the hardware store and got 2 1/2 inch copper pipe end caps. They fit perfectly over the ends of the heater core lines. I then warmed the heater hoses end and slid then over the end caps on the heater core inlet and outlet. I then attached the hose clamps. (I suppose you could solder the end caps on, but I did not feel it was necessary). I have not had a leak in 23 years. (Note: not exactly sure if they were 1/2 inch or maybe smaller -- check the heater core inlet and outlet before you head out) This message was edited by nelsb01 on 7-11-19 @ 8:12 PM
