Hello, In need of both rear 1/4 window regulators for a 1947 Ford. Or could use just the round gear or a method to repair these. Also in need directions on how to adjust the convertible top irons. Thanks!

I believe at one time the gears were reproduced. Call the Early ford Store in San Dimas, ca. or All Ford Parts in Campbell, Ca. Both have a lot of Repo and NOS parts.

All the regulators in my '47 convertible were inoperable when I bought the car. After looking for replacements with no luck, we decided to repair them. We removed the rivets holding the parts together, then welded all the teeth on the sector. We then reshaped the teeth with a die grinder before reassembly. It restored all to good operation. The convertible regulators are very hard to find, and expensive if you do. One of the door regulators was missing, and it took months to find another. They are specially geared to take nine turns to raise or lower the windows. Adjusting the top is a very time consuming process, particularly if the eccentric bolts have been replaced with common bolts. It is best done before the top material is installed. With the top raised, the eccentrics must be adjusted so the header falls on the studs on top of the windshield without forcing them. Replace the rubber seals on each side of the rails before you adjust the top. If you are having new top material installed, be sure that they have done many before, A good friend with a '48 convertible had it done where they had it too tight, making the doors difficult to open and close! Adjusting the cowl angle bracket helped some. Anyone thinking about restoring a convertible Ford will find it to be a learning experience, as many of the parts are special to that model, and very hard to source
