In 1940, they were simply bolted to the metal floor surrounding them. (Sorry, didn't see the 41 until I'd already posted).

There are four rubber plugs that fit into four holes into the bottom of the removable floor pan. The part number is 11A-7011115. The plugs are available from C&G Early Ford Parts. Fred Killian

So the rear edge is not fastened? It just sits on the 4 plugs? It is fastened at the firewall and on the sides. Thanks for response.

There are five 1/4''x20 square nuts held in place by cage plates attached to the bottom of the front floor pan. The removable pan you use 1/4''x20x1'' long panhead slotted machine screws with 1/4'' internal tooth lock washers. At the top of the removable pan at the top and on the right and left side 1/4''x20x1'' long panhead slotted machine screws go into D shaped nut plates spot welded into place. On the bottom of the firewall are two black painted plates attached to the firewall by panhead slotted sheet metal screws. One plate is over the clutch and brake pedal arms. The other is in the center of the firewall. There are D shaped nut plates 1/4''x20 spot welded to the bottom of the plates. The removable pan is bolted to the plates with 1/4''x20x1'' long panhead slotted machine screws. Fred Killian
