My fuel gauge has been acting erratically lately. I noticed it started late last year. This year when I filled the tank the gauge stayed on empty for days. Yesterday the gauge appeared to show the correct amount based on my recent trip. Is this a float issue?

The best way to determine this is to remove the sending unit and check the float. It could be the float, grounding or wiring. If you have an aftermarket sending unit, it could be the sending unit as well.

The cork floats lose their coating when fuel with Ethanol is used and the brass floats can develop leaks.
