How do you release the seat portion of the back seat? I tried pushing down and back to unhook the seat but no go. Not pushing hard enough? Are there bolts or screws I didn't find?

Push back on the bottom cushion and then pull up as you push back. Depending on the amount of padding in the seat you may not be pushing hard enough. The back rest is held in place at the bottom by two separate metal tabs that are bolted to the floor an. Remove the bolts and then push up.
