I don't know how to decode that number, but since no one has chimed in I will try an educated guess, or maybe just a hint. Ford changed the 6-cylinder engine from the "G" series to the "H" series on October 3, 1947. Further, all Ford automobiles built after November 1, 1947, were decreed to be 1948 Fords. The highest serial number for a 1947 H series engine is reported to be 77HA9038. So, this number hints that this vehicle contained a 6-cylinder engine built during October 1947. (Perhaps the 202 is the engine number?) The Early Ford V-8 Club's 1941-48 book states that the cowl or firewall codes on these vehicles "tend to be confusing and meaningless." Again, just a guess. I hope someone with more definitive information chimes in. Ken

That number does not fit the format of the US serial numbers. The US serial numbers start with 77HA 0512 to 77HA 073901. For US serial numbers: The first 7 is the model year The 7H identifies the engine type (99 is used for the 239 cu.in V-8, 1G is used for the 41-47 6 cylinder engine) The A is for passenger vehicles and the numbers are the sequence numbers of the engine. My guess is: Canadian numbers are different, The Western New York RG has them on their website. There is an engine number stamped on the bell housing and it would start with 7D 001 and up. There is a frame number and that appears to be what was supplied: 202 I don't know what this means, it could be the body type H indicates that the vehicle was manufactured in Windsor, Ontario 47 indicates model year 73314 is the sequence number of the frame. Maybe someone that has a 1947 parts manual can give more accurate information. Tom

Thanks for your input. I know it is a 1947 Half ton built in winsor Ontario. Just kind of wondering on what the 202 stands for.
