Looking for recommendations for machine shop to help with rebuild of my late model '36 flathead. Something in the Tampa are would be preferable. Thanks!

Be sure to know if the engine has babbit or sh*ll bearings. '36 was a transition year, and the original engines were not identical. At our shop we advise those with poured bearings to consider finding the other type to save time and money. The passing of time has taken away those who could pour and fit the babbit type.

I lived in St. Petersburg FL for 50 years, right across the bridge from Tampa. There are two machine shops there that I know of that do early V8 engine rebuilding, insert bearings or babbitt bearings.
I've heard good things about both. They're both in the business for a long time.
Doug Schooley Engines, inc 5526 64th Way N 727-541-5301 (Just of 66 St. & 54 Ave N.)
Godwin & Singer 1415 Burlington Ave N 727-896-8631 (Near downtown)
You might want visit with both of them. Say h*llo from me.
