Topic: 1940 ford convertible radiator pan

I have a 40 ford convertible that is modified. It has a late moder chev v-8 and 350 trans. It has a brass radiator. It has a bar on the bottom to protect it . Do I need the stock radiator pan that normally is installed under the radiator. Due to the larger size of the bigger than stock radiator the pan will have to be modified, which I can do, but I can't see where it will afford the radiator much more protection and give me added support.
Any and all help is appreciated.

You don't need to use the radiator pan. It was more of an air deflector than anything else and does not support the radiator in anyway.
