I have a 52 Ford with a 53 Merc Flathead. I've installed a new Champion radiator. After driving to get the car good and hot but not overheated, gauge in normal zone, I leave it sit for a while, then its very hard to start. Could this be a points problem? To wore? Or since the Merc engine had the auto choke, could that be the problem? Suggestions?

Do you have the Ford intake and carburetor or the Merc intake and carburetor? Have you checked your spark for a strong spark when idling? Have you checked the timing with the vacuum advance disconnected and the idle set to specified RPM? Does the starter turn over the engine at a normal rate? Tom
