Can someone show me a picture of the 1941 heater colors. It is for a 41 Super Deluxe Station Wagon. I am being told that mine has the wrong color doors. Thanks

Yes there is a difference in color between the hot water heater used from 41 to 48. If you don't have a copy of the 41 to 48 Ford book you really should get one. According to the book the 41 heater had a dark brown case with light colored doors and ivory knobs. There were three red horizontal stripes on the right and left sides of the case. For 42 there was a lighter brown case and doors with ivory knobs and three horizontal ivory stripes centered on the doors. 46 through 48 had a metallic gray case with dark knobs and no stripes. This is a rough description. Take a look at the pictures in the book for a better look at them. This will probably start an argument but since the heaters were a dealer installed accessory it is probable that any of the above heaters could have been installed depending on when the dealer sold you a heater and when he used up the stock on his shelf.

I have the book and read about the colors. I had the car just judged at the Grand National and was told that the doors were the wrong color. They are a light cream color and was told they were to be a gray color. I am finding that it all depends on who is judging, had one of them ask me if my battery was a 6 volt. If you don’t know the difference between a 6 and 12 why are you out there. The car was made in the fall of 1940 so it may be a 1940 color. Thanks for your help

Ron, did you try contacting the '41 Advisor? Fred should be able to tell you. You could also try contacting Larry Caplin in Northridge, CA. He reproduces some parts for the 40 heater and has a lot if the information that Tom Cherry collected. Tom spent a few years collecting un-restored For heaters, and had a great knowledge of what the heaters looked like originally.
