I have a 1937 hump back 4dr. The windshield mech works smoothly, but the know keeps popping off. It's a dog to it get it on, getting the snap ring in place. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Thanks Mike

Mike, Attached is a pdf showing the regulator assembly with the spring washer and "snap ring". Maybe it will help. I ended up buying a new snap ring at Ace Hardware that fits snugly around the handle groove. Once it snaps into place it holds well. If you can't find the correct spring washer (it is thin and wavy), you could buy a regular washer with the correct inside diameter, which is what I also did. I had to grind down the outside diameter so it would fit nicely in back of the instrument panel hole. I have a picture of that setup if interested. Gregg

Thanks for the help. I have or had the snap ring, but not spring washer. Each time I managed to get the snap ring onto the handle, it would hold until I drove the car over a bunch of bumps. The handle would then pop off. I'll try your method of making a spring and see what I can find at the hardware store for a snap ring. Maybe my old ring is not strong enough. Thanks a million. Mike

Good luck. I attached a pic of my current setup for retaining the handle. I have an extra snap ring. If you want I am glad to drop it in the mail to you. gregg
