Rear bearing has been growling lately, and can be partially silenced with a few drops of oil. In order to have peace of mind I have decided to operate. Question: Is the bearing replacement a bench job, or should I take it to a professional ?

If you have any mechanical skills whatsoever, you'll handle this task easily. Bearing is a very common one that can be purchased at any decent auto parts supplier. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Most of the 32-48 generators have a bushing for the rear bearing. Usually these are pressed in and then reamed for correct shaft size. Tom
