Topic: 1943 Ford in CUBA!

alisonschlicht    -- 05-14-2018 @ 3:44 PM
Hello! As you might know, classic cars in Cuba are everywhere and the Cuban people take great pride in restoring and caring for their cars. However, it is very difficult for them to find parts. They need someone outside of their country to locate parts and then bring them to them.

I have taken on a mission to help a Cuban friend find a few parts for his 1943 Ford 4-door.

He would like a Ford hood logo/emblem and rear logo/emblem that he could put on his car as well as windshield wipers. I have attached a picture of the car as well as the logo/emblem that he is hoping to locate.
(It might only allow me to download one picture, if you cannot see the car and want to see it, please let me know.)
Any help with this project would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Alison

The emblem appears to be from a later year Ford. To the best of my knowledge the fordor sedans built in 1943 were military staff cars and were essentially 1942 models and were painted all over olive drab and would not have had that emblem.

  Good Morning, Alison---

Based on your photo, the green Ford appears to be a 1953.

Don't get discouraged - there's LOTS of stuff available, along with plenty of expert advice from Club members to help you with the restoration of this model.

Good luck.

Tom

I did some preliminary checking for you.

First of all, the Club has an excellent, 2 volume book on the 1952-1953 Ford. Check it out in the Online Store link.

Dennis Carpenter, Amazon, and e-bay all have 1953 Ford parts, including the hood and deck lid emblems, and windshield wiper arms and replacement blades.

Check 'em out.

  That's a '53 not '43!

And it appears to be sitting on something other than its original chassis judging from the odd position of the right front wheel.

The emblem pictured was introduced for 1952 and carried forward to other years. The car pictured without ornamentation could be a 52, 53 or 54.
