Topic: Valve adjustment in cold weather

I am working at getting my 46 Super Deluxe ready for the summer, and decided to check the valve clearances (adj. lifters). I live in the North, working in an unheated garage with an ambient temp of 28 to 30 degrees F. Will the cold temp have any affect on the clearances if summer ever gets here? My understanding is the valve clearances are there to allow for thermal growth of the lifters and valve stems, so this is why I ask the question.

The clearances are given for a temp range of 65-85 degrees. I am not a metallurgist, so I can't give you accurate information, but my SWAG is that it probably will make very little difference. The adjustments have a .002" tolerance, so if you go to the loose end of the tolerance you should be OK.
