Topic: Machine shop in St. Louis, Mo area

I've got a 51 Ford 8N tractor with the Funk 6 cylinder conversion. I believe it to be a 48 or newer 226ci H series engine. Still trying to research casting codes to figure it out exactly. I am probably going to need to rebuild the engine and am looking to see if there are any machine shops in the St. Louis area that are familiar with the machine work for flat heads. I assume it'll need valve job, at least rings if not bored too and main bearings possibly crank turned. Symptoms include low oil pressure, smoking while running and 2 cylinders failed compression test. Thanks for any recommendations.

Machine shops. Bottom line is , we really could care less being a flathead or other wise. We work with micrometers and measurements. All the
talk about flatheads being expensise is bull. No difference boring the
flattie or a late small or big block the boring machine could care less.
Valve jobs are easy. Even very bad cylinders can be sleeved. Only advise
I have. you or the machinst are at a standstill until it is taken apart.
Money can be saved if you take it apart all parts marked & put in zip
lock baggies. You clean all parts thats all less they have to do. Then
the shop will tell you what has to be done. I think a mom and pop shop
maybe better than the big guys cause typical the big guys charge more
per hour and you may be on the back burner for months. Even I have to send some parts to another shop hop this helps 'a little'

Thanks for the input. This is my first foray into flathead territory and did not know if there was any kind of specific knowledge needed for flatheads. Looks like I over thought it again. Thanks for replying.
