Topic: 1936 headlight switch

Help or ideas please. I'm trying to keep my 36 tudor original. The headlight bottom switch has off and the other positions are all on. Does the lever on the wheel need to be in a certain position when I put the bottom switch on? Everything lines up so I feel it's put together right. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

The straight up and down (vertical) of the thumb knobs on the steering wheel is the off position. The embossed V8 on the horn button should also be vertical in the off position. One position CW is the parking lights only. One position CCW from off is the low beam headlight and the second position CCW is the high beam. The owners manual describes this. The light switch assembly is keyed together so improper assembly is difficult. On the bottom of the steering box is a keyed collar Ford called it a bracket B-3569. It should be installed with the it's cut out being on the bottom toward earth. This will result in the wiring harness coming out of the light switch body going upward.

The 1936 Ford Owner's Manual. And the Club's 1935-1936 Ford Book. Start with those.
