I could use some help identifying a set of NOS or NORS 21 stud aluminum heads. They are made for flat top pistons. The combustion chambers are a true heart shaped measuring about 75cc's,( low compression?), not squared off like most early heads I have seen. There are no part numbers or Ford script, just RH and LH in the center of the head. They take large spark plugs like a Model A, (7/8-18?). which are larger than the 18mm plugs. Any ideas what they could be? We are thinking they could be 1932 or early 33, or after market for?

I believe that your thinking is correct, namely aftermarket heads for '32s given the combustion chamber shape and the 7/8" spark plug threads. They're a very rare item in any event

I've read that all 32 heads were iron, is that correct? What shape were the combustion chambers? The large plugs and the chamber shape threw me off. I've also read that some 33 heads did not have any casting numbers on them. We were looking for a replacement head for a 1934 when these popped up. My best bet so far is that they are an early reproduction. Thanks for your help. Paul

All '32 production heads were cast iron and the V8 versions had V or heart-shaped combustion chambers as shown in the photo below. Most '33 V8 aluminum heads had no cast-in part numbers. They were added when cast iron heads were released for use on big trucks and some commercial vehicles.

Bingo! The heads I have look exactly like the ones in your photo, heart shaped chambers, 7/8 plugs. The heads I have are aluminum not iron. Could they be early 1933? Paul

It would take a deep dive into the engineering releases and Rouge Engine Plant production log at the Benson Ford Research Center to establish what they were intended for or even that they were Ford and not aftermarket parts or prototype parts. Per chance is there an 'X' stamped anywhere on either of the heads?

Maybe a quick check in the EFV-8 club's 32 Ford Book by David Rehor, or the 33-34 Book, will turn up some info. John This message was edited by JM on 12-5-17 @ 5:43 PM

Or you could ask David Rehor, who is the 1932 Ford Advisor. His email address is walmer111@aol.com.

I checked the heads again, no x or other marks other than RH & LH at the center of the head. Paul
