With a 6 Volt Pos Grd as original, where should the power lead for the spotlight be connected? The light looks to be original and the switch works properly when the lead is connected to a battery. Is it connected to the light switch, ignition, or? Also, should a line fuse be installed? Thanks, as always for all the expertise available on this sight. It's like a college course on flatheads! Maybe when my car is done I'll win a diploma!

I have driven many a night home in the 50's, from "the beach" (Long Beach, CA) with the only working illumination being the "spot light". If ALL ELSE FAILS....it's nice to have alternatives. Therefore, I would wire it directly to the battery, and install an inline fuse as close to the battery as possible, as anything "un-fused" (upstream to the battery) can turn into a conflagration.
