Truing the Firestones today on the '47 to enable smooth 90 mph cruising on the old 2-lanes. These old school places are hard to find anymore. Glad this one's still here 40 miles from home. (Attached)

I wondered who might give me that classic response. This looks like a lot of rubber but if you've ever had it done before you know that it's very little of the total tread depth removed to get the tires round. Plenty of tread life left.

In the 1950's, we ALWAYS had tires "trued" if we were going to "drive FAST". My Dad wouldn't even THINK of driving his "one of four" 1950 Cadillac "stick-shift" LeMans Racers without TRUEING the tires!! No tire In-The-Day was "worthy" of being driven at high-speed without first being trued. I was just something YOU DID.

Not only did you find somebody with the machine there's actually somebody who can run it.
