I am restoring a 40 tudor standard. which interior kit do you recommend, the mac's cartouch or the La Baron Bonney ? With MAC'S September sale there is a $1200.-$1400 difference in price. I am not familiar with either, any help would be very much appreciated.

I have done at least 6 cars with LeBarron Bonney kits and have seen most of the others. I would not use any kit other then LeBarron Bonney. Their kits costs more but in my opinion the quality is worth the extra cost. Keep in mind the labor costs when figuring the total cost. I used to have the interiors scratch built but with upholstery shops now charging well over $100 per hour here it doesn't take long to add up.
LeBarron Bonney does the hardest part.
Find a shop that is familiar with and comfortable installing their kits. You won't be sorry.

You'll find that the customer service from LeBaron-Bonney is far superior to Mac's. If you have questions or a problem LeBaron-Bonney will have the answers. That service is well worth the extra money.

Sorry for the delay. I am doing an off frame restoration on a 40 tudor standard which is an outstanding original car. I am doing completely stock, just like Mr Ford made it. I will likely never show the car, just have a nice car for the family. I was trying to save a few dollars on the interior. (I have some other car I have collected to do after I finish the 40 ) Thanks again.

The extra investment in LeBaron-Bonney will add value to your car with any prospective buyer. The last car I restored had a cheap after market interior when I found it that really detracted from what was an otherwise nice "driver" car. The L-B kit made a huge difference that was reflected in the eventual sale.

I have done four cars using LeBarron Bonney interiors and I would recommend them also.

Thanks for your responses, it help me make a correct decision. I will be using the La Baron Bonney kit. I am sure there will be other questions in the future. I want to do the car correctly. Thanks again.

Bill, be sure to replace all the tack strips at the back of the door jambs or any other areas that use tack strips. I've seen many nice cars with newer upholstery where the windlace has come loose due to the old strips not holding the tacks or staples.. The old strips are usually dry and brittle by now. You can get new strip material from Drake or most of the other V-8 vendors.

Thanks for the advice trjford8, I will certainly replace the tack strips. Information like this is very helpful in having a successful restoration. Thanks again!
