Hi guys. Another question, this time it's about why when I'm cranking over the engine to start, it turns over slowly and also makes a loud clicking sound. 1948 V8 Flathead, rebuilt starter, new selanoid , all connections clean. Still 6 volt positive ground. Thanks for any help.

Remove the fuel pump, see if that is the source of your noise.

Do you have the correct 6 volt cables from the battery to the solenoid and to the starter? Tom

If you only hear the clicking while the starter is engaged you could have a chipped drive gear on the starter. Greg

I'd look at the starter and flywheel gear. Richard

I wonder if a video of the problem would capture the sounds. Would be interesting to be able to help others troubleshoot using a YouTube video link.
