Looking for a correct hot water heater for a 1939 1/2 ton.
Good, restorable condition.

Not sure if trucks had factory heaters, most were dealer installed I think. Possibly same as pass cars. Many pics have been put up on them on the ford barn. They are pricy and need a special switch also pricy, good luck ken ct.

I have never seen a 39 truck hot water heater. My parts catalog only shows one for the 40.

The 40 truck hot water heater differs from the car heater with a drain plug at the bottom of the core, an opening for the drain plug in the cover and the mounting bracket is different from the car. I have not looked at the differences it the firewall between the 39 and 40 cars and trucks, so cannot say if the 40 truck or car heater would fit a 39 truck.

The 39 and 40 car heaters have some differences also. The 39 has a solid kick guard over the lower left hose connector, the 40 is slotted. The 39 car left door has a stop to prevent opening the door and interfering with the shift lever, the 40 door opens to 90 degrees. The holes for the door handles are spaced different in the 39 and 40 heater doors.

I sold a 39 car heater a few years ago. It had a new core and the motor was rewired. It went for more than $300 and had to be painted and needed new knobs. I sold the switch also for $100. It was a NOS switch with a mint knob and rechromed bezel. I would want more for one in that condition today.
