Does anyone know if the 40 1/2 ton PU and a 40 car are the same frame?

The difference between the passenger car frame and the pickup frame is as follows. The pickup frame does not have the "outrigger" body mounts at the rear frame kickup that are needed for the passenger car body. You can get these mounts off a junk frame or are found as reproductions to bolt them to the pickup frame if needed. Note you can also use the frame from a 41 pickup for the 40 passenger car, but the front crossmember on the 41 frame has a deeper drop to accommodate the 6 cylinder motor.

Thank you for the information. I should have explained what we wanted to do. We have a car frame, and want to put it under a PU. Can this be done?

remove the outside body mounts from the auto frame and mount the pu body . delux and some standard auto frames/front suspension had a anti-roll bar and that would be a great addition to a pick up
