Is there any tricks to getting the door glass to stay in the regulator channel? Does the sticky side of the glass setting tape stick to the glass or the channel? Thanks in advance

No paricular tricks. The setting tape must hold the glass fimrly in the channel. The sticky side generally is against the glass.
