I made a vacuum fitting from a 5/8 to 1/2 air hose reducer and scr*w*d a 1/2 to 1/4 hose barb into that. This is for temporary duty only. I'll have to figure something out if I ever power the brakes.
Installed new fuel pump which helped a good deal. Got a rebuild kit for the other for a spare. Fuel tank filler neck is the real fuel consumption issue. think its the filler neck. Tank is fairly modern vintiques and looks good except for all the fuel leaking out at the neck. ordered hose and clamps. Hoping I don't need to drop the tank to change this. Oh well. wife objected strongly to gas smell in garage when I made the mistake of filling up Once the gas issue is resolved I'll tackle idle dwell and timing. 3 plugs were pretty foul and a new set really smoothed things out. the fuel pump seemed to help too. my browser is acting stupid so I'll finish up.   Bill: Be sure that you have the correctly vented gas cap. Vapor pressure buildup, particularly in hot weather, can cause gas to breach the hose clamps. Some caps admit air while preventing venting.

Thanks. Hopefully the Dennis Carpenter gas caps will be correct. I 'll see about ordering one. The fill tube hose is kind of spongy so I'll change it. looks like I may be able to get to the slotted clamp screws from underneath. Then I'll change those to hex heads. I need to get cracking. already missed 3 or 4 early ford v8 get togethers around here.
