Will I need to pull the dash gauges to clean the lenses and dials?

Often in the older Fords dust has gotten into the inside of the gauge behind the lens. You will need to remove the gauge and then disassemble it by carefully removing the outside rim and the lens in order to properly clean it. The older gauges have a clear plastic lens around the outside edge of the rim. This plastic gets brittle and cracks and allows dust to get into the gauge. You can get the clear plastic sheets at a hobby store and replace the lense after you clean the gauge.

Thanks! I have a 51 PU with a chrome ring.

Be careful cleaning the faces of the gauges. Find a spot that will not be visible when the gauge is installed and test your cleaning product in this area, just to make sure that it doesn't damage the paint.

I have had good results with detail spray and clay. Be careful around the needle so you don't bend it.

Before using any cleaning solution, we try cleaning the face of the gauge with Q-Tips soaked in distilled water. The gauge faces are often fragile, and we found that out the "hard way".
