Topic: 1941 Ford Pickup rear fender braces.

Bought a pair of rear fender braces for my 1941 Ford Pickup from Mac.s a few years ago when I started my restoration. The original fenders were badly beaten, welded and beyond fixing. I bought a pair of fiberglass rear fenders and now have them installed. Upon looking at my old fenders and trying to figure out where the braces I bought go (original fenders did not have any braces on them). I am totally lost. I cannot see any way that the new fender braces could go on the rear fenders. I know i might have to drill a hole in the fiberglass fenders, but I cannot see where these braces come close to fitting. Any help? Pictures would be helpful.

the braces went between the frame and a tab at the bottom of the fender

It doesn't fit there. If you put the straight part on the fender, the curved part is too short to attach to the frame, and where would it attach, to the top, bottom, side?

If your fiberglass fender has sufficient rigidity, it may not even require a fender brace.

I know that originally a brace attached to the lower edge of the rear fender, where did the other end of the brace attach? One of my old original fenders had a hole in it for a brace, but I don't know where the other end of the brace attached!

I am pretty sure the rounded part bolted on top of the lower fender lip and the straight part went to a hole in the frame rail.

if the brace does not quite reach the frame you may have to shim it with a washer or two.

I know this is an old topic, but is there any chance you have a photo of the brace attachment to the fender? I'm getting started on a '40 and that part of my fenders has been repaired in a non-standard way. Thanks!
