Topic: Mounting the Spare on a 1941 Ford Pickup

Occaswright    -- 07-04-2022 @ 6:38 AM
I recently purchased a very nice 1941 Ford pickup that had a few items to be reattached. One of them was the passenger side spare. There were photos of the truck with the spare mounted, so I believe all the necessary pieces are there. It's a little embarrassing, but I can't figure out exactly what goes where to remount the spare. I've searched for step-by-step guidance in Ford manuals or a YouTube video, but have come up empty. Can anyone offer the steps or a short video (like is the plate behind or in front of the tire?) so I can get this back on correctly? Thanks for any help!

As far as I know the plate is behind the wheel. I would also recommend you post your question on the Fordbarn as many of those on that site have pickups and can help. There is also a Facebook group dedicated strictly to the 40-41 pickup.

I recently had the same problem on my 41 half ton. I modified the original mount and fabricated a new mounting plate. I mounted the wheel to the mount and put it in position and marked where the mount had to go. Then i located and mounted the mount with bolts and hidden nuts. also baby V8 caps and beauty rings

Still Need details concerning tire mounting? If so, I'll see if I can help with a few pictures.

Thanks to all for responses. I'm new to this site and didn't realize there was no notification when a reply was made. I did solve the problem with the assistance of a few V-8 Ford experienced friends. Thanks.
