Topic: 40-41 Fiberglass fenders

Has anyone put the repo-fiberglass fenders on your 1940-41 Ford Pickup? My original fenders were in really bad shape, welded, bead broken, etc., so I purchased a pair of Fiberglass fenders for my 1941 Ford Pickup. In trying to fit them on I have run into two problems. First the two top bolt holes on the bed are too high. Second the front of the fender that attaches to the running boards are not fitting flat against the running board, the bottom of the fender touches the running board but there is about a 1/2" gap at the top. Any suggestions?

Not sure who manufactured your fenders, but usually on the side that fits to the bed you will find some slight depressions where the original holes should be. If you find them, measure center to center of the depressions and then measure center to center of the mounting bolts on the bed. If the measurements match then drill the fender. On the pickup fender there is a slight depression (towards the rear of the fender) where the fender fits to the bottom lip of the back of the bed. Line that up on the bed and then clamp the front to the running board. Now see where you are with the holes/studs on the bed. Take you time and if you make a mistake you can always "glass over" the mistake.
