Topic: '37 Stakebed pickup frame to stakebed frame wood

I need to replace the deteriorating frame to stakebed frame wood support rails. I am unable to determine the species of wood used as built. I am also interested in determining if
Ford produced a version of the Stakebed that lacked the rear fenders and where the bed was supported by shorter (vertical) wood support rails or if that version was an after market modification. Did Ford have a particular model #(s) for the Stakebed pickup(s)? The attached photo was taken the day I purchased my '37 in late '69 in Seattle.

when I researched the wood species used by Ford, all I could find was a reference to hardwood, not really any species. When I took a part a 39 original bed the local wood guru said it was straight grain arkansas yellow pine. I used souther white ash on my 41 bed. last 4 pictures are of a 37 1/2 ton stakebed

Hi, While that was apparently taken 50 years ago, it looked pretty nice for thirty years old. You have piqued my curiosity and I wonder what it looks like now. Have you been using it and now restoring it or what? Just like to hear how other hobbyists are doing, or are we preservationists? Nice truck. 42oink
