Topic: German G29 Flathead in '53 Ford F100

  Hi guys,

a friend of mine had bought a '53 Ford 100 with and rusted and blocked 8BA engine and the original 3 speed transmission. He also got a german G29 flatty that in good shape and he wants to install it. He would like to keep the original transmission but it doesn't fit due to the fact that the G29 block is similar to the french or 59Ab block. The bold pattern of the transmission is complete different. Is there an adapter available to for a '53 3 speed transmission that matches to a 59AB block. Otherwise he had to swap the transmission. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help

You can try Modern Driveline at 208-453-9800 to see if they have an adapter to fit your application.

Thanks I had checked MDl. but the have none for 59Ab style block to 3 speed '53 Ford transmission. i think I have to swap to an T5 transmission

The T5 is a good choice. If you get one from a Chevy S-10 you will have a lower first gear to handle heavy loads and an overdrive high gear for relaxed cruising at highway speeds.

Contact Wilcap Company at 805-481-7639. They have an adapter #BHA-59A-FTL that may be right for your application of an early Flathead Engine (59A) to a later Ford Flathead V-8 Transmission.
