Hi guys, I'm new, having recently purchased a genuine 1945 (59c) half ton pickup. The only part of the truck that has been changed is the wiring under the dash. It's been converted to 12v, except the gauges. (I've got the conversion book) I'd like to order a large color coded wiring diagram, but they only list 1941-1942, and 1946-1947--no 1945. You experienced guys, which year diagram would you order? Thanks!

1945 pickups were in the twilight zone.....very very few made & zero literature as a rule!! For sure is a 59C? I would guess (IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN WIRING DIAGRAM BETWEEN PRE 45 & POST 46) that i would go with PRE 45..... You might try calling Tyree Harris, Wiring Harness Company on the East coast (804 556 5200) He may know....good luck, i have bought several wiring harnesses from him, good guy....very knowledgeable....

Yes, the old plaque in the glove box is stamped 59c. That's great advice, I'll call them for sure. The other option I didn't think of is to just buy both. Because there are two, some changes were made, and that would point out exactly what.

Where are you getting the diagrams? I would be interested in learning more on this..... I have alot of 46 & 47 parts, pieces, etc if you need items...... Good luck! Rick

Another source to call is YnZ Wiring. they build complete, authentic, high end wiring looms for antique vehicles. There is very little difference in the wiring of the 42 and 46 Ford Vehicles. You can go to VanPelts site and print both diagrams to see the difference. http://vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/FH_images/FH_electrical-pics/Flathead_Electrical_wiring1946-47truck.jpg I like to keep the wiring diagrams for my cars on my computer. I can enlarge any part that I need to and can print out sections to take out to the car. I use Photoshop Elements and the pencil tool to highlight the wire that I need to trace. If I need to trace several wires I can use different color pencils. Tom

I use Photoshop elements to enlarge the drawing and the trace the circuit with the pencil tool. Then I print sections of the diagram to take to the car. I have done this with early Fords and late model cars, as this si the only way that I can follow a diagram now. I am in my late 80's, so I doubt if my eyes are better than yours. I just have more experience in reading wiring diagrams, that was a requirement of my job for more than 30 years. Tom

Hi Tom, I will give that a try, but I do have an early onset eye problem so it's hard to read. You are right-as I'm only 69. I did order the large laminated, color coded for the 41-42 trucks because for $30 I think it's the easiest to use.

Adding on here. I have a 45 and the wiring is like a 42. I bought my new harness from Tyree Harris, fwiw. There are not significant differences, but there are a few.
