MY 51 F 2 HAS DEVELOPED A NEW PROBLEM. ENGINE STARTS AND RUNS FOR ABOUT ONE MINUTE ,THEN QUITS. I CAN RE-START AND SAME THING HAPPENS. FUEL IS GETTING TO THE FILTER ON THE FUEL PUMP. WHERE TO LOOK NEXT ?

This problem could be caused by any of the following: ignition, air supply, plugged exhaust or fuel starvation. Check the ignition to make sure you have good tight connections throughout. Check the air cleaner to make sure air is flowing through it. Check the exhaust system to be sure the exhaust is passing out the tail pipe. Check the fuel system to make sure the tank is vented and not creating a vacuum. Check the fuel line between the tank and the fuel pump to make sure there are no leaks which could prevent the pump from drawing fuel from the tank. Check the fuel pump to be sure the gasket at the top of the pump is making a good seal.

Not sure if the 51 has a ballast resistor for the coil, but if it does it could be a bad resistor. I would also check the coil and condenser. If you know you are getting fuel then it would be in the ignition circuit.

Problem solved, it was a gas cap that was not venting. Started the truck with cap off. WHEN I PUT THE CAP ON IT STALLED IMMEDIATLY. TRIED IT AGAIN , SAME RESULT. MODIFIED THE CAP AND ALL IS WELL.
