Hello everyone, just looking to have a question answered that i havent managed to find on any forums so far. I have 1945 Ford Half Ton pickup which i am about to register. However the paperwork describes it as a 59C but the number on the chassis is 99C. There isnt a VIN plate in the glovebox. Can anyone explain why there is a difference between the 59C and 99C refferences.

Your VIN or ID # should be on the top of the left frame rail between the firewall and the front crossmember. The number on the chassis is the number that you DMV will use for registration. The 5 and the C in your paperwork would mean it was built in 1945 and was a commercial vehicle. I have no idea why your chassis would have the 99C number.
Is the 99C number stamped into the frame with several numbers following? Is there a star in front and in back of the number?

The 99 in the chassis serial number is used to designate the 239 Cu In engine. Ford cast 59 in the bell housing of the 45 -48 engines to designate the later block design.
