Topic: 1946/47 Wire Harness Firewall Location

rawlir    -- 10-05-2020 @ 2:40 PM
  Hello, all!
I have 4 1946/1947 conventional trucks (a 46 Commercial, a 46 Panel, a 47 Tonner & a 47 Flatbed).
The hole (about 1.5 inches in diameter) in the firewall leading into the cab in front of driver and to the instrument panel is at the same location on both 46's
& the flatbed....I am preparing to install a new wire harness in the Tonner. The hole in this truck is about 2-3 inches directly to the right of the 3 other trucks. Has anyone encountered this or can explain this?
I am worried that difference will cause problems....I am installing a new wire harness that i bought from Tyree on the East coast.
Thank you!

The hole for main wire pass through needs to be between the two ribs as shown in attached photo....so it has proper routing for the voltage regulator. This is same location on all V8 and 6cyl trucks.

  Hello, Jal,
Thanks so much for the reply and photo.....I just tried to Personal Message you but i see it is not possible.
I would love to share a photo with you of the firewall location for my 47 Tonner but not sure i can post it correctly here, i will try.
If it does not show up i still would like to it to you somehow for your evaluation as i think two heads might figure this out better than one. I have seen 4 42/47 Ford conventionals photos now with the location 4 to 5 inches to the right so I know Ford put some there for some reason???
Might you test me your phone number if you recieve texts to 425 766 7408 or email me at rickr449@gmail.com?

Thanks!
Rick
