Topic: Gandpa's 37 Ford 1/2 ton truck

Hello all, I am new to the club and first post, so please be gentle

I am in the process of restoring my Grandfathers 37 ford truck. I have done all the fuel system, ignition system, now I am doing the brakes.

I have never seen a non hydraulic brake system before, it is very inveresting. I removed the fronts first and now we get to the questions I have.
1. The drums are already 12.0040 +, all the specs I can find say don't go past this. So should I try to find replacements? the drums are nt in too bad a shape, should I just use some emery cloth and give them a sanding? same with the shoes, lots of material left, just most likely would need to be arc'd.
2. Springs, anybody know where I can find a rebuild kit with springs ??
3. Mechanical adjuster, do these come off and can I take them apart and clean them inside?

Trust me i have spent days looking for these answers and have come up with nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ken, for your parts contact Michael Driskell at Third Gen Automotive ph# 844-327-5988. Also get the book Ford Service Bulletins 32-37. Michael is a wealth of knowledge. and has a lot of NOS parts. I'm not an expert on mechanical brakes, but the service bulletin book should help you a lot. Also the V-8 Club's 1937 book can be a help to you. The chassis and running gear on the pickup is the same as the passenger car so that may give you some additional information.
