just curious- has anyone seen a 42 ford pickup that was 4 cylinder equipped? the 42 truck brochure offers the engine as an economy option- I have never seen one and am thinking that even though it was in the truck brochure it was dropped after 41 model year because it was just too under powered. do any club members know ????

Ford produced the 4 cyl and they were used in shipping yards to move trailers. They were listed as tractors and you paid less tax.

The 4 cylinder FORD motors were used in the small farm tractors, like the 2n 8n 9n,,and used some 60 HP V8 parts
and same clutch as the FORD FLATHEAD V8'S
this is what I was led to believe,
IF you go to your local FORD TRACTOR dealer or a just a tractor dealer. they stock parts, for the 4 cylinder engines,.
even TRACTOR SUPPLY stocks parts. even exhaust systems., and other small parts, to keep them running,

hope this helps 37 Ragtopman

I have never seen or heard of one. If one was offered in 42, some were probably sold.
