Hi, I own a ‘53 Mercury M-100 (equivalent to Ford F-100) with its original flathead V8 and radiator. While working on the vehicle recently, I noted the radiator cap (which appears to be an after market replacement) is rated for 13 lbs. After doing some research, I believe this is the incorrect pressure and likely too high. Looks like perhaps I should be running either 4 or 7 lbs, based on searching some of the early ford v-8 parts suppliers. Can someone on the forum please confirm the proper spec pressure so I can replace my cap with a correct part? Thank you.

I could be wrong, but it sticks in my mind that the fords of this period took a 7# cap.
