Topic: Oil pan

I have a 36 pick up and the dip stick tube leaks at the usual place, where it’s attached at the oil pan. This I can repair. The question, is there a advantage of installing a truck pan with the clean out over the “standard” pan other than the clean out. And will it fit the later model flat head (24) bolt.
Also, is the full flow oil filter ‘kit’ still available which makes good sense to install either way
Thanks
Bernd

I am answering this question because no truck expert has answered it.

The oil pan with the clean out was made for trucks that operated in dusty conditions and at low engine speeds. There would be no advantage to installing one on a collector vehicle except for keeping the vehicle authentic.

IMHO the bypass filter keeps the oil clean enough to prevent excess wear. You should be able to go 2,000 miles between changes if you drive the truck at least 30 minutes every time you start it. If you do not do this, change your oil more often.
