My 37 Pickup (with Deluxe package) had dual exhaust when I purchased it about 8 years ago. Roy Nacewicz told me he THOUGHT it should have had a single exhaust system from the factory and I purchased ONE correct muffler. Now I read on page 4-8 of The 1937 Ford Book under Exhaust System that "Two muffler were used on the 1937 85 H.P. Fords. WHICH IS CORRECT??? James A. Westbrook

Jim, you might check with Gary Mallast who wrote the '37 book. I believe that none of the '37 Fords came with dual exhaust. I think that the book is trying to say in '37, Ford used two different styles of mufflers on the vehicles. Probably had two different suppliers.

hi 37 Pickup in 1937 they had 60 hp and 85 hp engines, the exhaust pipes are different, according to the parts book, maybe even the muffler, 37 only has one MUFFLER on the RS side. maybe a 37 PARTS book might be of some help my 2 cents 37 Ragtopman

I think you are taking the sentence out of context. I have a very early copy of “The 1937 Ford Book”. I sold my car and didn’t think it was necessary to keep up to date. Having said that, I assume the paragraph hasn’t changed. The whole paragraph reads: “Two mufflers were used on the 1937 85 H.P. Fords. By far the most common was 48-5230-A1 made by Ford and possibly Noblitt-Sparks. Much less common was 48-5230-A2 made by Oldberg.” I interpret the paragraph to mean that there were two different mufflers used in production (and they go on to describe them) not that there were two mufflers per vehicle.
