Topic: 1947 Ford Truck

Just picked up a 47 PU last week. Runs really nice but cosmetically needs a do over. Not a lot on web about 47's. Are they not a sought after truck or am I not looking hard enough.

Frankly that looks like a real nice old pickup. I would polish the paint, make sure the running gear is in good shape, and drive it. Looks like a fun old pickup and it will draw plenty of attention in that original condition.

You've got a real winner there! Don't do a thing to it but wax the paint and enjoy it! That's called a Jailbar truck (so named for the grille style), and is a popular style, although not seen in large numbers.
Post your general location, and we'll give you V8 Club info near where you are.

change the oils-trans-rear axle-engine, check the brakes, then wax and drive the beauty! That truck looks like great the way it is, do not restore it, use it for Saturday errands, hauling yard supplies, the looks and comments will come in droves

Looks great. I have a 45 and love it. Rear end gearing isn't the best, but otherwise it is fine.

A bit of an ugly duckling, I believe, but I am quite fond of the styling.

Can anybody tell me were the welting is used on a 47 half ton
Was it used on the front fenders

welting used between front fenders and inner fenders, front fenders to grill housing front fenders to cab, to running board. to rear fenders to bed/running board
