Can I replace a 4-speed floor shift transmission with a 3-speed floor shift without any modifications in my 50 f-1 truck.

yes, have done this several times in the past, you will have to work on the driveshaft or find one out of a 1/2 ton truck with a 3 speed
|

I take it the drive shaft from a 4-speed is longer than for a 3-speed?

drive shaft on a 4 spd bolts to back of trans , driveshaft on 3 spd trans has a sliding yoke on the trans itself
