Topic: 1940 Pickup Spare Tire Carrier -

I inherited my dads 1940 truck and I am looking for a spare tire carrier to install.

Any advise on where to locate one or information regarding the OEM.

Here is a company that specializes in truck parts. You might contact them and ask if they have what you are looking for.

I can't tell by the photo, but does your pickup have the indentation on the front part of the right rear fender? There should also be a hole in the right running board near the front corner of the bed for one part of the bracket. Under that hole should be a cast bracket either bolted or riveted to the frame. These items I have mentioned will help you determine if you can put the spare back on the pickup. By the way congratulations on you inheriting the pickup. That young lady and little boy will love riding around in that nice old '40 pickup.
If your dad was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club of America I hope you will carry on the tradition. If not a member I hope you consider joining as you would definitely enjoy the V-8 Times magazine. The V-8 Club also has a small book all about the .40-41 pickups. You can join on the front page of this site and you can also order the book. Welcome to our website.

I have an extra under running board bracket if you need one. Very good looking truck, I have owned 3 -40 or 41 trucks and wish I had not sold them to buy a 49 F1-semi-project
