Topic: gas smell in oil.

caddy40    -- 11-13-2018 @ 7:14 AM
I recently changed the oil on my 1951 F2. The oil smelled like gas. Wondering what the probable cause is. I also recently installed an electric back up fuel pump.. May be too much fuel pressure which is pushing gas into the cylinders ? Any other thoughts.
Thanks

are you tailpipes real sooty? the carb will flood with over 2lbs of pressure-my guess would be your power valve as it can leak down overnight which puts gas into the oil

Thanks, that helps. I may install a pressure reducer in the fuel line..

I am not sure what the power valve is. Can you explain what adjustment that is ?
Thanks

You have disabled PM's so here goes. Its probably excess pressue from the dlec pump BUT the PV has NO adjustments. It screws into the middle section from the bottom of it. I have new modified PV's that cure leakage in them ,comes with the proper gasket. Better by far than what comes in present kits. $12 plus $3.50 mailing. ken ct 1-203-260-9780 if questions

I hope installing one fixed the issue.
