Topic: 1950 F-1 Grill Style

I recently bought a 1950 F-1. I read that the area of the grill around the headlights was argent color from the factory, but what color were the horizontal bars? Were they also argent or were they chrome from the factory? My grill looks like this and I'm not sure if it's original or if it's been repainted...

As I recall, this piece was painted a metallic grey color, although I have seen some with chrome bars. It may have been a dealer option or after market.

Stainless was a option. All I have seen in my life was the whole thing
was argent. Think the 48 & 49s had red pinstripes. And then many
were special orders for example our next door city bought new
about 10 F8's all orange with black fenders and cream grills. Then
phone co. all green drab grill and all. But I still say trucks bought off
the dealer lot were argent...

1950 f-1 pickups had argent painted grills. bars and all.... I have heard that in Late 50 there were some cream painted like the later 51s.
early 48s had tucson tan grills with the stainless strips on the bars. late 48 through 49 were argent painted with red pinstripes -2 per bar-top and bottom.
